“A BRIEF HISTORY”
Greater Refuge Tabernacle Ministries was founded by Bishop Ernest Y. Dahn in September1988 in Liberia, West Africa. The ministry quickly moved from Liberia to Ivory Coast, Guinea and America respectively, due to the civil war in Liberia. The Greater Refuge Ministry had 14 churches: six in Liberia, five in Guinea, two in the Ivory Coast, and one in the United States.
In September 2002, after receiving a word from God through Bishop Dahn the Greater Refuge Tabernacle Ministry in Levittown, PA began as a Bible Study with three people, under the theme “Kingdom Seekers”. These three people prayed and fasted for God to show them a sign and a perpetual vision about His divine word. In April 2003, our first worship service was held at the Bristol Recreation Center with an attendance of twenty people. After eleven months of service at the recreational center, God then took His Church to another level.
In March 2004, we moved to the Bristol Gardens Community Room with a faithful membership of seven. While in the Bristol community room for about two months, God again took us to another level whereby enlarging our tent. God brought forth our breakthrough in May 2004 and He led us to a bigger facility which could seat 150 people.
Two years later, after continued prayer and faithful service to Him, God opened doors for us to re-locate to our current facility in July 2006, with a membership of one hundred and twenty.
Over the years the GRT ministry as a whole has undergone some changes with several of our overseas churches being dissolved, while a new church has been added in the US. Our locations within the US now include our headquarter church in Atlanta, GA (Bishop Ernest Dahn), our very own Levittown, PA (Pastor Korboi Muingbeh, Sr.), and St. Paul, MN (Pastor Jerry Daidii).
In March of 2009, our Senior Pastor, Korboi Muingbeh, made a visit to Africa to restructure and empower the ministry overseas. As a result of the visit the GRT ministry currently has two churches in Liberia (Gbanga – Pastor John Sangba and Grand Kru – Evan. Patric Bloh), while the ministry headquarters is currently being worked on in Monrovia (Pastor Samuel Kpawon). There is also one church in Guinea (Pastor Wilson) and two in the Ivory Coast (Pastor Roberts and Pastor Williams Thomas).
The Greater Refuge Ministries, International has a total of nine churches to date and we are trusting God by faith to keep us strong as we grow in Him and set out to do great and mighty things in this generation that will be a lasting legacy for the generations to come.
